Persuasion is such an excellent book. I really enjoy and look forward to your perspective on this mature Austen tome. Bob

Hail Helene, No disagreement as to the better devotion of time to properly tell the story. 5 hours is much more satisfying than a mere 2 hours. What I liked about the Knightley version was the realism when compared to other versions. They dressed in ordinary day clothes, not in empire ball gowns. Of course this is one of the great charms of Jane Austen, you can stage the work in so many ways. and compare the productions like Shakespeare. There are flaws in every production Bob

Hi Robert, I couldn't really say that I liked the P&P Knightley version as I'm a devotee of the BBC/A&E version. I guess the Hollywood one just lacked in a lot of ways for me...they even tried to recreate the hand up to the carriage shot and it just didn't work like in the BBC version where Darcy gave her the slightest squeeze. I'm a nut for that.

I was so excited when I saw this group. I love Jane Austin! I can read her over and over again. It will be fun to discuss her with other people who love to read her works.

My favorite Austen book is whichever one I am perusing. Film adaptations are a different matter. In pride and prejudice I like the Kiera Knightley versionIn depth the BBC version cannot be topped
